Day 5!!

Today I went to the ink lab. I helped Rachel. They were testing prototype ink. Because it was prototype the cartridges have to be filled by hand and not machine. I helped her weight and fill the PEN's. Than we sealed and labeled them. This way when they will be running tests it will be easier to categorise them. In a few days tests will be run on them. If they pass the tests the new ink will; be released in 2014!!!

After lunch I went to the experience centre again. I got to print off pictures and make an album with 217 photos in it.Afterwards we bound the album in a black case. I also helped other HP employees print off anything they needed. Them I helped bind the calenders. T o this I must punch holes in 3 pages at a time and them use wire to hold them together.
Day 4!!

Today I went to the writing labs with Sandra. This lab tests all the prototype printers to see if they work and if there printing quailty is up to standard. If it isnt the computer will keep a record of anything that can be improved. This week they were hooking up a brand new prototype.
They showed me how they reproggramme the printers to make them compatible with any computer if will be plugged into. They than print off a sheet. The sheet containes anything that can be printer from a wide range off colours to letter to designs. These sheets are than  put into a scanner that will pick up on any micro problems with the printing.
After lunch I categorised the PEN heads. Finally all my categorising has paid off today i got to test the ones with Tower Damage to see it the was actually any damage to the Tower. Because at one point they were just dropped and the factory was sending them back saying they had tower damage.
Day 3!!

Today i went to the experience centre in HP with Mick. The experience centre is a room full of various HP printers. In here employees can print off calenders, posters, photo albums, canvas pictures and pictures. Mick helps Mags out in the experience centre every second Wednesday. At the experience centre I helped change the poster printer paper. Than i helped save any extra canvas paper. At the end of the roll the printer says it is empty. You have to take out the remaining pieces and cut them down to size to be put into the other canvas printer. After that i helped to clean the caleneder and photo album printer.
Went into the store room and stocked up the shelves with the new delivery. It contained all the covers for their photo album.
When we were done I got to use the photo printers and print off any photos I want. Than I got to print off two posters. One of the actor Paul Wesley and one of Channing Tatum.

When I was done that I put all the albums together and into a cover. Than i punched holes in the calender pages and added spiral holders so it can be used as a calender.
Day 2!!

So it was my second day i was just as excited as the first to get to work again and i had an AMAZING day!
On my second day i scanned pen heads and categorised them into different piles depending on what was wrong with them. E-Test, PST or Tower Damage. I than took the E-Test pile and examined them under the microscope and looked to see if any of the dies were cracked. If they were I had to mark them and put them in a seperate pile. If they weren't i had to put them in trays and mark them as E-Test.
After lunch Orla and i used a gauge to measure the level of the chiclets. We made a record in a table. Then We had to calculate them average. When i was done i graphed information that i found for the engineers and line managers.

Day 1!!!
So on my first day I was excited and nervous. I went into reception to be greeted by the friendly face of the receptionist. She gave me my badge and a copy of the Health and Safety Leaflet which I had to sign. Lorraine one of my supervisors met me in reception, we than set out on the ten minute walk to the building I will be working in. When we got to the building after walking through a really long glass walled corridor I was introduced to the team I would be working in.
We had great fun at lunch everyone sharing stories of funny incidents that happened to them.
After lunch I helped test failed PEN heads that failed the inspection test. I went to the printing bank with James and put the failed PEN heads in specially modified printers. After that Aoife gave me a tour of the production line and showed me how each machine worked and what they did.
